Hugs and Kisses

I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I've updated my blog. I love Christmas and it's over already. I haven't stamped anything in weeks and I'm looking forward to getting those creative juices going again. Here's a little goody I made back in August. I guess it's time to get those Valentines Day stamps inky again.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and will celebrate a safe and Happy New Year this evening!

A little ornament

Here's a little ornament I made out of a metal tin. I had originally planned to stamp the inside image, but I found these little penguin stickers and decided to use those instead. I may still stamp some, but I was in a hurry to try it out. I saw this in a magazine and they looked like fun so I thought I'd give it a try. Hope you all are having a great day!

Happy Holidays

Hello fellow stampers and blog followers! It's been so long since I've stamped, or blogged or done anything crafty, so you can image how good it feels to have completed a Christmas card today. I still need to do a few more, but I think I'll get there in time. I think my crafty time will be very sporadic over the next couple of months, but I'll take what I can get.

I hope you all are doing great!!

Silly Monkey

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd show you a card I was commissioned to make for a coworker's Grandson. I made it a couple of weeks ago which was the last time I stamped. I was able to get together with Angi and have a play day last week, but it went by so fast. I did manage to stamp a bunch of images of stamps she brought to share that I don't have and that was great! Life has been crazy and it's about to get crazier as I am in the retail industry and we are in our busy season. I hope you all are doing well and thanks for looking!

Acetate Card

I was so excited at how well this card turned out I just had to share. It took me a few tries to figure out what I was doing and how to attach the acetate without glue showing on the reverse side. I chose brads to attach everything instead of glue. It looks neater and worked out pretty well. I'm just not sure I like the three brads on the side. I plan to make a few more and see if I can improve it a bit. If you have any ideas on how to attach the acetate to the card please feel free to share. I tried eyelets too and those look worse. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Life is Sweet

Today is the perfect crafting day for me. It's rainy and windy and cold. I do my best work when it's dreary outside. This card was inspired by the b/g paper from DCWV. I used one of my most favorite sets by Hampton Art called cupcakes. I also used some quilling paper to make the little curl. It works great! I'm not sure how it will hold up in the mail, so maybe a padded mailer is in order. I hope you are having a great day where ever you are! Thanks for looking.

Tookey Day!

I'm all out of order this year with my card making. I know we haven't had Halloween yet and I've made so many Christmas cards already, so Thanks Giving was the next logical choice. LOL! Actually this is the only one I've done so far. It's not a big card giving holiday, but I wanted to use some of my flowers and this stamp seemed perfect for it.

Hope you're all have a great day!

How cool is this!!

No cards to share today, but something even more exciting.

I had the pleasure of watching the Blue Angels practice last week in preparation for the air show this past weekend. While we were unable to attend because I had to work all weekend (and it was WAY too hot to be at the airport all day) we were still able to enjoy parts of the show. Here's the COOLEST thing about this photo. My husband took this picture with his nothing fancy digital camera from our backyard yesterday! I wasn't home to see it, but my boys were so excited to tell me just how close this jet was to our house and that the vapor trail filled the backyard and 2 seconds later they could feel the wave from the sheer power these machines possess! I'm really bummed I missed it. There were times during their practice sessions they were so close I could see the pilot. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

Anyway, I just thought this was super duper cool and I wanted to share it with you guys! Hopefully I'll have some cards to share later this week. Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Bosses Day

The girls at work asked me if I would make a card for our boss for bosses day which is sometime in October. This is the card I came up with. I made it square so there would be more room for all of us to write a little something on the inside. I hardly ever make square cards for a couple of reasons. It's difficult to find square envelopes and postage costs more. Which brings me to a little gripe about the USPS. Yesterday I had to mail a package and since the "letter carrier" had already come and gone I decided to mail a thank you card I had made along with the package. The card already had a stamp on it and when the postal worker picked it up she said, "oh, it's a little lumpy." That will be a 20 cent SURCHARGE. To which I said, "what???" It already has a stamp on it why the surcharge? She replied, "it's a little lumpy." (insert evil postal worker stare here) It was a card I made with NO embellishments, one layer of bg paper and ONE sentiment with ONE 1/16th inch piece of foam tape. GRRRR! What I wanted to say was, "You're a little lumpy! And don't you know card makers help to keep you employed?" We NEVER send e-cards and we are already paying 44 cents to mail each "standard size" card and an extra 58 cents to mail a square card. I mail tons of cards this way from my house and nobody has ever called me to say thanks for the card and oh by the way, I had to pay a 20 cent surcharge to get the card. If I make a truly bulky card, I put extra postage on it, but this what a bit ridiculous.

Ok, I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!

Quilled Snowflakes

Happy Mojo Monday!

It's all about the snowflakes for me this year. I think most of my cards this year have some form of snowflake on them. I thought I was going to quill all of my Christmas cards this year. BAAHAAHAAHAA!! After spending a couple of hours quilling a few snowflakes I decided it just wasn't reasonable. I've quilled before and forgot how time consuming it can be. Especially if you don't have a quilling board. It's a MUST HAVE if you are going to quill. One of these days I'll order one since I can't get one locally. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this Mojo Monday sketch!

Non-traditional colors

Happy Friday everyone!

The inspiration for this card came from a spool of ribbon. I like non-traditional colors for Christmas cards sometimes and I like how this turned out. It didn't look finished to me, so I added the little silver balls at the top of the trees. It worked out great since it ties into the silver on the ribbon.

Have a fabulous weekend my blogging friends!

Winter Wonderland

How cool is this card? I spend a fair amount of time on Elzybells blog and her guest designer this time was Sue Nelson. I have been following Sue's work for years. She is SO talented. Anyway, I saw one of her cards with this layout and loved it, so I cased it. It's such a simple design, but really packs a punch.

The Mummy

Yeah, I'm still working on those Christmas cards, but decided I needed a little change of pace. I thought I'd participate in Barb's Haunted Design House Macabre Monday challenge. This weeks theme is to pick a horror flick and design a card around that movie. I chose "The Mummy". Yeah, it's cute, but appropriate. I also happen to really like this Mojo Monday sketch from a couple of weeks ago, so decided to use it again.

Happy Haunting everyone!

More Christmas

I'm still pluggin' along with my Christmas cards. I picked up a couple of stamping magazines over the weekend and they have really inspired me to create. I guess I'll just keep going until I'm tired of Christmas designs.

Christmas or not?

I love how this card turned out, however, it's supposed to be a Christmas card. Does it look like a Christmas card? Maybe I should change the colors? Maybe it's missing something?

What do you guys think? I could really use your opinion on this one. I hope you are all having a great Labor Day weekend!

Thanks!

Everyday Mice

Isn't this little Christmas mouse cute? She's part of a set from The Angel Company called Everyday Mice. I didn't think I needed this set until a good friend stamped me a few images to play with from her set. After that, I decided I too needed my own set. Go figure!

Thanks for looking and have a squeaky good weekend!

Challenge Day

LinkHello!

Today is challenge day over at The Digi Shack!

What can you do with 1 piece of ribbon, 2 pieces of dp, and 3 brads?

I combined this recipe with a Mojo Monday sketch from a couple of weeks ago and here's what I came up with. Now let's see what you can do!

Do you take Ream in your coffee?

Ok, so when I set out to make this card my plan was to have the words cream and sugar showing on the b/g paper. It wasn't until I finished the card and photographed it, I realized I cut off the C from cream and the R from sugar! HAHAHAHA! DUH! I thought it was so clever too since it matched the sentiment. Anyway, it made me laugh so I thought I'd share it with all of you!

Christmas on the brain

With the completion of my Cards for Heroes cards I thought I might be a little tired of making Christmas cards, but I guess I'm still on a roll. The little snowman card took me a few hours to get just right, but I'm pleased with the way both cards turned out.

Cards for HEROES

So this is what I've been up to lately! It is such a great feeling to do something I love AND have it benefit someone else. If you haven't checked out Cards for Heroes, you really should. Not only is it a great organization, but their blog has some fun challenges on it, and a bunch of other great stuff. I will tell you, if you are anything like me you'll need a box of kleenex nearby to read the whole blog. This particular batch is one of their challenges where you create 25 Christmas cards and 2 any HERO cards. It took me a while to get it all done, but am happy to say, I finally mailed off my package today. The hardest part was figuring out what to write in my any HERO cards. What do you say to a total stranger who is making sacrifices to defend this great country? I decided that a Thank You probably goes a long way.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

Marvelous Mottos

I knew when I got this set from The Angel Company it would be a fun one to play with. Since I've had this set for months I decided it was time to break it in. I think it was really designed for scrapbooking, but it worked out well for cards. There's a total of 12 stamps in this set, but I liked these three best for the cards. It's a super easy layout, but I think it does the images justice.

Thanks for looking today and check back tomorrow for the latest Digi Shack color challenge.

Christmas Cards for HEROES

A while back I decided I was going to make some cards to donate to Cards For Heroes. Well, I'm almost finished with my batch of 25 Christmas cards and 2 any Hero cards. Here's a crooked picture of two of the cards I'm sending. I'll post a better pic of all the cards I made after I get them finished and ready to mail.

I would like to encourage you to check out their site and see what a wonderful organization it is. Wouldn't it be great if YOU donated some cards too? Whirlwind is also working on something special that will benefit them, so go check it out!

A Simple Thanks

While we were on vacation I found a beautiful paper pack at a local Michaels and just knew I had to have it. There's nothing more girly than pink butterflies! The card is a pretty simple layout, but it's oh so girly! I love the fact they are making teeny tiny brads now too.

A Challenge

I'll be honest, challenges stress me out. I know, it's silly. It's not like the stamping police will come and arrest me if I don't get it right, but it really does stress me out. On the other hand, stamping challenges are great for stretching your creativity. So, I decided to give it a try and made this little Halloweenie card for Barb's all Halloween site. If you haven't checked out her blog, you really should. She is UBER talented AND she now has a second blog dedicated to all things Halloween. It's such a fun blog especially this time of year when we are all getting geared up for our Halloween projects.

Speaking of challenges, tomorrow is Digi Shack challenge day and there's Shack Sugar up for grabs! Make sure you come back tomorrow and see what it's all about!

Digi Diva Day

Today's challenge over at The Digi Shack is to make a diva card. I love how this card turned out and I was hoping some famous shoe designer (Dolce, Jimmy, either of you) would see this post and make me a pair in size 6. I don't need them until October 31st, so there's plenty of time, Mr. shoe designers. And while I'm asking a matching Birkin would be nice...

Anyway, this shoe is perfect for paper piecing and has limitless options. It wont be available until Saturday the 15th, but wait until you see all of the new image being released at our blog hop. OMG! Is all I can say. Make sure you check out what our design team members have done with their digi diva images and come back on Saturday 8/15 for our blog hop. It's going to be so much fun!

Just for fun

It's almost fall (YIPPEEE!!!) so I decided it was time to get out the google eyes. (you know, for all the Halloween cards we LOVE to make) They added so much to the birdy card. I'm trying really hard to get away from my usual. Image, nesty, b/g paper card. That's usually what works for me, but I'm really trying to think outside my image, nesty, b/g paper box. I flipped through a bunch of magazines I had when my in-laws were here and loosely copied a couple of layouts to get me going. I don't usually like to "copy" other stampers art, but sometimes you just need a little creative diversity!

Thanks for looking today. Your comments are SO appreciated!

Coffee Card

Hi Ladies!

If you read my blog with any regularity, you already know I LOVE coffee. I can't seem to stamp unless I have a cup of coffee near by. So, it stands to reason, if I LOVE coffee then I must LOVE coffee stamps! I got this great set of clear stamps from Michael's with one of my coupons. Have you seen all new new clear stamps they are carrying now? OH MY. I could easily lose my mind.

I made this card for my boss who has to quit caffeine. Poor thing!! Can you imagine?? I guess it's not that bad and I did get her a little tin of decaf coffee to go with the card. You know, just a little something to get her started and take the edge off!

Baby Cards

Here are a couple of cards I made last week with some adorable TAC sets. I really have no reason to make baby cards, but had to use some of the super cute K & Co paper I have. My bursitis is acting up again, so stamping and everything else is slow going. UGH! And of course I'm right handed and guess which shoulder is bothering me? Hopefully all the drugs I'm on will help and I can be a stamping machine again soon!

Thanks for looking and check back tomorrow for the latest Digi Shack challenge card.
